Based on slavic folklore, the Flying Ship is a queer fantasy story set in a mythical world called Glas. When the Tzar offers his daughter’s hand to one who can build a ship that sails through the sky, it is grumpy Dobrinia who decides to take up the quest, with a little magical help.
Set in a dreamy world of potions, prophesies and princes in disguise, The Flying Ship is an ongoing project of love that I use to hone my drawing and coloring skills.
“Divine is a DIY printed art & story zine made by Jillian Adel in Los Angeles. It focuses on the themes of sexuality, bodies, gender, identity and self love—all through the lens of radical intersectional feminist sex positivity.”
I was proud to be featured in the beautifully produced third issue of Divine magazine, themed around men. In the comic I explore my identity as a trans-masculine non-binary person.
We Shall Fight Until We Win
Artwork from a comic called “Nicola Sturgeon: Just a Politician Who Wants To Shake Things Up A Wee Bit” for BHP’s anthology “We Shall Fight Until We Win.” Written by Laura Jones, the 5 page comic tells the story of Sturgeon’s life as a politician and her tenacity in the face of loss, inequality and sexism.
Beyond This Place
for a comic book called “Beyond This Place,'“ created as a collaboration between Willow and women of Edinburgh to allow them to tell their stories on using self directed support funding. The process involved a workshop I gave on storytelling through comics, along with learning the womens’ unique stories.
Each comic was created in a different style to reflect the womens’ individual points of view, some character designs were based on their drawings created in the workshop.
